Day One: Traveling Takes F-O-R-E-V-E-R.

Well, it has been a few weeks since I promised to deliver a blog post about my travels, but here it is! In a way in makes more sense that I am posting now, cause shoot, if I was posting everyday it would mean I was not making the most of my time here. By here I mean: England. So I am going to start by describing my trip from the beginning . . . the nightmare of packing.

For those of you wishing to go on a lengthy trip anytime soon, PLEASE, be a smarter packer than I was. I started packing a week before I left, making sure to check the weather reports, and the baggage weight limitations. Go me, right? No, I over packed. Luckily when I arrived at the airport it was only 5 pounds over, the weight limit was 55. The guy checking in my luggage was really cool and let me take my make-up bag out, so I saw this as an opportunity to reveal my oober nerdiness, and ask him to take a picture with me. IT WAS MY FIRST TIME TRAVELING! Anyhow.

My Mother and best friend Alissa Graves were kind enough to walk me up to the gates due to a seemingly deceptive wall; I thought we had time to chat over drinks at Starbucks. Wrong, as I said my farewells, I walked around the walk to a line longer than the those found at the DMV. I hitched up my backpack and swung my purse to my left shoulder and was ready to wait. An hour went by before I made it up to security. I finally arrived at gate number B-14 only to stand there like a loser trying to find who else was on my group flight. Moral of the story, bring a book, and plan out your time.

The plane finally started to board and I find my seat next to the window along with this adorable couple from Canada. I am sitting there for ten or so minutes sweating my face off, when I finally explode with frustration, I ask "excuse me miss, are they going to turn the air on?" To my horror she relied that "British airways does not turn the air on until liftoff." This was my first encounter with the odd ways of the British. They do not believe in air conditioning, but more on that later. To make up for lack of being able to breath - complimentary wine was served along with microwaved chicken and rice. It was was actually really good. Well, I did not order wine. But the miniature sprite can was cute, why is everything that is miniature, cuter? All and all the flight ended up taking ten hours and I slept a total of 30 minutes. However, I was able to finally watch Glee and fall in love with Finn and Mr.Schuester:) I also have never want to straggle anything or anyone before this flight until I met the little kid in front of my seat. Now, England is set 8 hours ahead of Arizona. So as we were flying over the Atlantic, it got really bright, really fast. This little asshole thought it would be fun to watch me cringe when he pulled up the window shutter and pulled it down. The little eye covers that were provided by B.A. had a funky smell, like stale bread, only enhancing my motion sickness from the extreme turbulence. The plane ride sucked. Oh, and if you are thinking 'well at least you were by a window', FALSE. I was stuck by the cute couple from Canada, who intertwined themselves like a piece of red wine candy, while I had to urinate so bad it was hurting.

BUT landing was amazing! The landscape of England is gorgeous with luscious green trees, fields of wildflowers, and gray clouds!

The wait was not over yet, customs- 40 minutes, waiting for people/bus- 1 hour, bus ride to Cambridge- 3 hours. I did get my first passport stamp in England, woo! And I went to the loo and discovered how fancy it was. A fun fact about England is that it is GREEN. As in you will not find a toilet area with paper towels, they all have hand dryers. Pretty impressive if you ask me.

My primary purpose of creating this Blog is to keep family and friends updated as I travel the world. However, I may post about people, events, or things that annoy me in the world (just a little warning). So Enjoy! Jouir! Godere!
